FROM THE PASTOR I am grateful to be the Pastor of such a church as Victory. In recent days I have seen the love and caring concern of this church both for its members and also for the cause of missions around the world. The response of concern for the Lois Brady family was very gratifying. Thank you to all who helped in this time of need. The response to the Faith Promise Missions Giving has also been encouraging, as nearly $40,000 has been committed for this year. Praise the Lord!!As we enter this month of February, I want to express my deep appreciation to my dear wife as we celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary on the 5th. I praise the Lord daily for giving me such a wonderful, encouraging and dedicated helpmeet. Allow me to encourage all of us to be faithful to the Lord and to all of the services of the church this month. May God bless you. Pastor Bagwell
FROM THE ASSISTANT PASTOR We have an exciting new month in 2007 to give to God and to see Him work through us. We will be having a skiing activity to Wolf Laurel Ski Resort in Mars Hill, just north of Asheville. The teens have received the information on it and we will be going on Saturday, February 10th. We need to have a group of fifteen or more to receive the group rate and I need to have everyone sign up early in order to place deposits. We do need some adults to go, so if you would like to go, just sign up and I’ll give you all the info you need. Thank you for allowing me to take your children on these activities. It is beneficial for our church and our youth group to have these trips. My goal for our teens at VBC is to grow in the Lord. This is why I am here: to inspire, challenge, keep accountable, love, reprove, unite, encourage, protect, pray, grow and lead by example our teens, and others in our church, for the glory of Jesus Christ. I pray that everyone in our church would stand behind these efforts and cooperate in every way you can. Victory is a special place, and it is because of our wonderful people yielding to our wonderful God and His goodness working through us. May the Lord richly bless you in His Heavenly ways that you may grow in all ways pertaining to Godliness. Looking forward to what God can do through you! Brother Buddy Driggers
VICTORY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL The Victory Challenge basketball tournament is over and there are just two more weeks of basketball left. Then we get into the “quiet time” when we can get a lot done academically. Most students and all staff look longingly for enough snow to give us two or three days off. But, alas, it appears that our hopes are in vain. J Have you thought about seriously praying for your Christian school every day no matter what? We need a few good people to keep this school ministry before the Lord regularly. This is what we need from the Lord in the next few weeks: 1. We desire several more good students. 2. We could use two or three more substitute teachers on call “just in case.” 3. We need a “red hot” fundraising idea, which will produce $6,000 profit. 4. We still need a new laminator for the teachers. 5. We plead for God’s blessing on the faculty and staff. The new 10th grade girl is here, and it seems that she will fit right in to the way we do things here. She appeared organized and willing to learn. Praise the Lord for that! A BIG THANK YOU for your continued support in prayer and giving. We could not get along without YOU! Jim Petersen, Principal
AWANA NEWS We would like to let you know that the kids are having a blast in game time this year! Jerry and Nancy Cool are our game directors and they have been a blessing! Jerry can still play a mean game of kickball! Nancy gets right in there with those kids and they love it! We thank the Lord for all of our directors! AWANA is an important part of the ministry here at Victory. Kids hear the Gospel, memorize verses and they have a message geared to their ages!If the Lord is tugging on your heart to serve, take a look at AWANA. Reward yourself today by serving in AWANA! Thanks. Victory AWANA
L.O.V.E. NOTES Heads up Secret Sisters and “wanna-be” Secret Sisters!! The deadline to turn in your Secret Sister information sheet has been extended to include today, 1/28/07. Secret Sisters will be assigned by next Sunday, 2/3/07. Please be sure to get your envelope from your mailbox next Sunday. I have made a master copy of the lavender information sheets, so if you lose it, please let me know and I will give you another one. Obviously, Valentine’s Day is an excellent time to start remembering your Secret Sister with a card and gift. Hopefully everyone who is a part of our Secret Sister program this year will make every effort to remember her Secret Sister often during the year, not only with gifts and cards, but with daily prayers. Please be thinking of some ways our ladies’ group can earn money to keep our ministry to the missionary ladies active. We’re received numerous thank you’s in response to the Christmas cards and gifts we sent. We will have a meeting in the near future to discuss fundraising and fun get togethers. Have a wonderful month serving our Lord. Jan Yeomans NOTICE: HOMEMAKER-HELPMEET LADIES CLASS, led by Beth Bagwell, meets the first Tuesday of every month at 10:00 a.m. in the gym.
