FROM THE PASTOR The early months of this year have been filled with much sickness and death. We have mourned the deaths of Lois Brady and Miriam Howell. Both of these ladies were very faithful to their husbands, the Lord and the church. They are greatly missed. We have also seen the miraculous recovery of Barbara Nichols from what seemed to be certain death. How we praise the Lord for sparing her life. Through all of this, I have gained a greater appreciation for our church family. The response of much kindness and love has been such a blessing. Thank you for all that you do to truly make Victory a “family.” I look forward to the month of March. On the 25th-28th, we have our Annual Revival Meeting. This year we are privileged to have Brother Dwight Smith preach our meetings. Brother Smith preached and sang here in June of 2005. It will be a joy to hear him again. Also, Brother Doyle Robertson will be leading the music for the meetings. You will enjoy his singing and trumpet playing. On March 11, Beth and I celebrate eighteen years here at VBC. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!!! Pastor Bagwell
FROM THE ASSISTANT PASTOR March is an exciting month at Victory! So many wonderful things going on! I am looking forward to the Revival Meeting, the couple’s retreat, the church-wide singing and many other great activities. Activities are great, but are not the heartbeat of God or the Christ-centered church---even though activities have an integral part in a church. I am thankful for the active opportunities we have here at Victory, because my family benefits from them too! I am going to be organizing a trip from Victory to Ambassador Baptist College to support our Pastor when he receives his Honorary Doctorate. This is such a wonderful honor, and one that is well deserved! If you would like to go, I need you to sign up. You may want to drive or ride in the church van. Whichever you would like to do, I have to know in order to reserve enough seating. There will be a sign-up sheet on the table for both driving and riding. This will be on Friday, May 4th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Torrey Auditorium at Ambassador. The church vans will be leaving at 3:00 p.m. in order to eat supper and arrive early for proper seating. I hope you will come with us to honor our Pastor. It will mean so much to him and I hope you will encourage him by your presence. Thank you. Brother Buddy Driggers
VICTORY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL The winds of March may be here, but the quietness of having no sports for a period of time is a blessing. Basketball is finished for a while and golf will not start for about three weeks. This gives us time to “hit the books” hard and see what we can get accomplished. Our JV boys just returned from a tournament at King, NC. We took 3rd place and surprised many people who were there. In the last two days, we have talked with parents and students from three different families whose children have been attending another area school which has had a bit of trouble. It appears that we will pick up some of these young people—a blessing for us. We still believe in the power of prayer. Would you pray for these special needs? 1. More good students. 2. More substitute teachers. 3. A very profitable fund raiser. We understand that everyone is busy, but please continue supporting us in prayer, encouragement and giving. Your concern makes a big difference. Thank you! Jim Petersen, Principal
AWANA NEWS It’s that time of the year again when parents can help their kids build an Awana Grand Prix racer. In the next few weeks, we will be selling the pine box derby kits. The cost will be $5.00 per kit. Let’s help make the Awana Grand Prix a huge success. Last year we had ten or twelve kids from around the community visit and take part in the race. The Awana Grand Prix is a great tool in getting kids to come and enjoy this special event. We always have some kids who want to build a racer, but can’t afford the $5.00 kit. Last year you helped in this area and there was a smile on every face. If you could help in this area again, please contact Margaret Rish or Chuck Stallings. Hope to see you at the race Victory AWANA L.O.V.E. NOTES I trust all Secret Sisters have picked up their assignment sheets and have begun to pray for their Secret Sisters daily. This can be a really good experience for those of us involved in the program. We will be scheduling a ladies’ meeting in April. Please be thinking about anything you would like our ladies’ group to do, either in the way of fund raisers or special get togethers. If you know of a need in our church that the ladies can meet, please let us know. Have a great month. Jan Yeomans NOTE: HOMEMAKER-HELPMEET LADIES CLASS, led by Beth Bagwell, will meet on Tuesday, March 13, at 10:00 a.m. Remember to tune in to “Victory for Today” every Sunday morning 7:30 a.m. on WFSC 1050 AM or WRGC 680 AM
