VICTORY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL BEGINS NEW SCHOOL YEAR ON AUGUST 22ndVictory Christian School, midway between Sylva and Franklin, North Carolina, just off highway 441, will begin the new school year on Monday, August 22nd. Victory is unusual in that not only it is a private school, but it is also a Christian school. We are members of the North Carolina Christian School Association and the American Association of Christian Schools and are approved by the North Carolina Division of Non-Public Education (part of the North Carolina Public School system in Raleigh. VCS is uniquely designed to train Christian young people to be ready for whatever God has for them to do in life. The training students receive at Victory will enable them to get into the college of their choice and follow their desired career path. Graduation requirements from Victory meet or exceed the academic requirements for the sixteen member institutions of the University of North Carolina for 2006. Curriculum used is selected for a strong academic emphasis and a Christian philosophy. We use all Christian textbooks from Christian publishers whenever possible (either from A Beka Books produced by Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, Florida, or from Bob Jones University Press in Greenville, South Carolina. Victory's purpose is to maintain a Christian administration and faculty, produce students who trust Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, provide a quality education with academic excellence in a clean, morally wholesome environment, view all academics through the prism of God's Word, and teach Scriptural principles as guidelines throughout life. Victory's teachers are academically and spiritually prepared and take very seriously their God-given responsibilities of leading their students toward academic excellence and a high degree of personal responsibility. To accomplish the above purpose Victory Christian School must have behavior guidelines and a dress code. The behavior guidelines require that students refrain from swearing, using indecent language, smoking, drinking alcoholic beverages, pornography, immorality, gambling, dancing, illegal drugs, and misuse of prescription drugs. VCS believes that students should maintain Christian standards in honesty, kindness, courtesy, and morality. Our students should have a respect for the rights and property of others, and they should respect the laws and privileges of our country. Victory promotes spirituality, patriotism, good character and good attitudes. The dress code requires that students be modest in their apparel. Young ladies wear skirts or dresses to class. The hemline should come to the middle of the knee including the top of any slits. Bare midriffs are not acceptable. All attire should be loose fitting. Extreme hair styles, jewelry, dress and makeup is not allowed. Young men may wear casual slacks or jeans (no shorts), collared shirts in 7th through 12th grades (tee shirt type shirts are fine in the elementary grades), and belts. Hair should be tapered and trimmed off the ears and collar and out of the eyes. Of course, body piercing other than girls' pierced ears is not appropriate for boys or girls. Tattoos and other body markings are not things which Christian young people need. Students need activity and Victory provides it. We have an aggressive inter-scholastic sports program with other area Christian schools in volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball and golf. Private piano lessons are available. Fine arts competition is offered during the second semester. Individual classes have appropriate field trips for academic purposes. Although there are some costs involved in children attending Victory, we try to keep the costs as low as possible. Registration is $90 for per child K4 through 12. There is a book fee of $150 for kindergarten and $215 per child in grades 1 through 12. Tuition is $1350 for kindergarten with a noon dismissal ($2000 with a 3:00 dismissal, 2000 for grades 1 through 8, and $2150 for grades 9 through 12.
